Why Honey Is So Much Heavier Than Water
Honey is basically concentrated sugar with very little water left in it after bees reduce the nectar. That’s what pushes it to 1.38 g/mL instead of water’s 1 g/mL. It’s also why honey sinks below water if you ever pour the two together, and why scooping it by volume is trickier than weighing it — the stickiness leaves residue behind, so a scale gives a more honest number.
