Agave Syrup: mL in Grams (and Grams in mL)
Agave syrup is thicker than honey but still pours by the tablespoon, so most recipes measure it by volume. Once you try to weigh it, though, the numbers stop lining up with water. Here’s the fix: agave syrup has a density of 1.20 g per mL, so it’s always heavier than the same amount of water.

The Formula
To go from mL to grams, multiply by the density:
Weight (g) = Volume (mL) × 1.20
So if a recipe calls for 30 mL of agave syrup and you only have a scale, pour out 36 grams and you’re set.
Grams to mL — Flip the Formula
If your recipe lists grams but you’re measuring with a spoon or jug, divide instead:
Volume (mL) = Weight (g) ÷ 1.20

Why It’s Heavier Than Water
Agave syrup is mostly sugar with very little water left in it, which is exactly what makes it denser than plain water.
